The property, located at 17 East Chestnut Street, was constructed by a renowned NY architect and is one of only three estates on East Chestnut, the most exclusive area of the Chestnut Historic District, boasting the largest homes. Regarding the history of the estate, there is a book by Lowell Thing entitled The Street That Built a City detailing the integral role the Chestnut Historic District and particularly this house played in not only the development of Kingston but New York City and the building of our nation.
